Equine Wellness Intensive:
A Whole-Horse Reset
Create momentum. Build awareness. Establish a plan.
Every horse has a remarkable capacity to adapt.
The problem is that not every adaptation is helpful.
Over time, horses develop movement patterns, postural compensations, muscle tension, and physiological changes that allow them to function despite discomfort, stress, injury, or imbalance.
Those adaptations often become so familiar that they begin to look normal.
The Wellness Intensive is a focused two-week program designed to uncover those patterns, understand why they've developed, and support your horse in finding more comfortable and efficient ways of moving, learning, and living.
Rather than treating isolated symptoms, we work to identify the factors contributing to compensation and create a plan that supports long-term soundness.
My Philosophy
I don't believe lasting change comes from only treating one part of the horse.
I believe it comes from understanding how the entire system works together.
That's why no two Wellness Intensives look exactly alike.
The principles remain the same.
The application is individualized to the horse.
During the Wellness Intensive we explore...
Capacity for Movement
How efficiently does your horse organize their body?
Where are they compensating?
What movement options are unavailable?
Capacity for Regulation
How much unnecessary tension is the nervous system carrying?
How does that influence learning, posture, and recovery?
Capacity for Recovery
Does the horse have the nutritional resources to heal and adapt?
Are digestion, mineral balance, and management supporting long-term resilience?
Capacity for Partnership
How does your horse experience people?
Do they feel safe enough to explore new movement?
Can they learn without bracing?
How do we create more confidence through connection?
Depending on your horse's needs, the Wellness Intensive may include:
• Functional movement assessment
• Equine Hanna Somatics
• Craniosacral Therapy
• Nerve Release and Myofascial Release
• Nutritional evaluation
• HTMA interpretation
• Postural rehabilitation
• Functional groundwork
• Management recommendations
• Owner education
Every horse's plan is different.
When to Consider a Wellness Intensive
A Wellness Intensive can be beneficial for horses at many different stages—not just when something has gone wrong.
It may be a good fit for horses who are:
Evaluating Readiness
If your horse is coming back from time off, this is an opportunity to make sure everything is working as it should before increasing demands. We assess range of motion, body awareness, and the foundational building blocks of movement so your horse has the support and access they need before returning to more complex exercise.
Preparing for competition
For horses that are already in work, the Wellness Intensive provides a convenient opportunity to check that everything is functioning as it should before training or competition demands increase. Rather than scheduling multiple appointments with different practitioners, this two-week program brings together a whole-horse evaluation and integrated support, helping ensure your horse is ready for the season ahead.
Navigating ongoing challenges
If your horse has been dealing with a persistent issue that hasn't fully resolved, a Wellness Intensive can provide an opportunity to evaluate the whole horse. This perspective often reveals patterns that are easy to miss when each system is viewed in isolation. From there, we can determine whether your would benefit from a longer-format rehabilitation program, or if additional diagnostics should be pursued.
Investing in Prevention
Just as we schedule routine veterinary, dental, and hoof care, a Wellness Intensive offers a proactive way to check that your horse has access to the foundational building blocks of movement. Looking at the whole horse allows us to identify subtle changes early, make thoughtful adjustments before they become larger concerns, and help your horse maintain comfort, resilience, and quality of movement through every stage of life.
A Different Way to Think About Wellness
Much of equine care is reactive.
We wait for the horse to become lame before evaluating movement.
We wait for behavior to change before asking what they're experiencing.
We wait for performance to decline before looking more closely.
But what if we shifted our focus?
What if we looked for the subtle changes that happen long before they become obvious problems?
The goal of a Wellness Intensive isn't simply to address existing challenges.
It's to better understand your horse's current capacity so we can support long-term health, movement, and performance before compensation becomes limitation.
Education
Throughout the intensive, I explain what I'm seeing, why it matters, and how each piece fits into the bigger picture.
My goal isn't simply to improve your horse during their stay.
It's to give you the knowledge and confidence to continue supporting them after they go home.
The Wellness Intensive Experience
The Wellness Intensive is intentionally designed to balance purposeful work with time for rest, recovery, and integration. Every part of the schedule has been thoughtfully planned to support your horse's learning and development.
Weekend ArrivalHorses arrive on Saturday or Sunday before the program begins. This allows them time to settle into their new environment, decompress from travel, and become comfortable before structured work begins.
Week OneDuring the first week, your horse participates in five individualized sessions tailored to their unique needs. Depending on the horse, sessions may include training, functional movement, Equine Hanna Somatics, nervous system re-education, hands-on bodywork, or a combination of these approaches.
Integration WeekendThe weekend between training weeks is intentionally reserved for integration.
Rather than continuing to work every day, your horse is given time to recover, process new experiences, and begin embodying the physical and neurological changes made during the first week. Learning continues long after each session ends, and this time is an important part of the program—not simply time off.
Week TwoThe second week builds upon the foundation established during the first, with five additional individualized sessions that evolve based on how your horse has responded throughout the program.
Going HomeHorses are picked up on Saturday or Sunday following the second week.
During pickup, we'll review your horse's progress, discuss what changed throughout the program, answer any questions, and go over your personalized homework plan so you feel confident continuing your horse's development at home.
You'll also receive:
Detailed session notes documenting your horse's stay
Before-and-after comparison photos
Nutrition recommendations
A personalized plan for continuing your horse's progress
Nutrition is one of the foundations that supports healing, movement, learning, and recovery. Every Wellness Intensive includes a comprehensive nutrition consultation because improving movement without supporting the internal physiology limits how much lasting change is possible.
Before your horse arrives, I'll evaluate their current feeding program and provide individualized recommendations based on their history, goals, workload, and overall health.
From there, you can choose the level of support that best fits your goals.
Nutrition Supports Lasting Change
Nutrition Consultation
Every horse receives:
A comprehensive evaluation of their current diet
Individualized nutrition recommendations
Guidance for supporting long-term health, movement, and performance
If you'd prefer to keep your horse on their current feeding program during the intensive, that's perfectly appropriate. I'll provide recommendations you can implement after your horse returns home.

Optional Enhancements
-
If you're interested in transitioning your horse to an anti-inflammatory forage-based diet, the Wellness Intensive provides an ideal opportunity to begin that process.
Changing any feeding program should be done gradually to support digestive health and allow the horse time to adapt. During your horse's stay, I'll manage the transition for you while monitoring how your horse responds, making adjustments as needed along the way.
By the time your horse returns home, the transition is already well underway, making it much easier for you to continue with confidence.
-
For owners wanting a deeper understanding of their horse's physiology, HTMA is available as an optional addition to the Wellness Intensive.
HTMA provides valuable insight into long-term mineral balance and stress physiology, allowing nutritional recommendations to be tailored specifically to your horse rather than relying on generalized guidelines.
If HTMA is completed, you'll receive the lab report, a report detailing my interpretations, and individualized supplement recommendations with multiple options whenever possible, allowing you to choose an approach that aligns with your goals and budget.

FAQs
-
Equine Hanna Somatics is a form of neuromuscular re-education. Rather than stretching or manipulating muscles, it works with the nervous system to help horses regain voluntary control of chronically contracted muscles. The goal is to reduce unnecessary tension, improve body awareness, and restore a more neutral resting muscle tone.
-
Craniosacral Therapy is a light touch modality that works with the central nervous system to rebalance the cranial bones and restore the rhythm of the cerebral spinal fluid
-
No. Every Wellness Intensive is individualized. I don't begin with a predetermined protocol. I begin by understanding the horse in front of me and selecting the approaches that best support their needs.
-
No.
Every horse has a different history, different compensations, and different needs. Some horses experience significant changes during their stay, while others require continued support over time.
Rather than promising quick fixes, my goal is to help your horse move toward greater comfort, efficiency, and resilience while giving you a plan to continue that progress at home.
-
Because movement doesn't happen independently of physiology.
Nutrition influences tissue quality, muscle function, recovery, energy production, and the body's ability to adapt.
Looking at movement without considering nutrition only tells part of the story.
-
Because lasting change doesn't happen during two weeks.
It happens in the months and years afterward.
My goal is not only to help your horse during their stay but to help you understand what you've learned so you can continue supporting your horse with confidence.
-
No. Wellness Intensives are scheduled individually rather than offered on a fixed calendar.
Once you're ready to book, we'll work together to find a two-week block that fits both your schedule and mine. This allows each horse to receive my full attention during their stay while giving owners flexibility in planning.
-
It depends.
For some horses, riding is an appropriate part of the program. For others, the greatest value comes from focusing entirely on developing comfort, coordination, confidence, and body awareness on the ground. The decision is always based on what will best support your horse's long-term development, not on checking off milestones.
Ready to Begin?
Every horse benefits from the chance to reset, reconnect, and move with greater ease.
Whether you're preparing for a new season, bringing your horse back into work, or simply investing in their long-term well-being, the Wellness Intensive is designed to create meaningful change in just two weeks.
